In May, 2023 I officially became certified as a Dog Behaviour Consultant under the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants (IAABC). Anyone can call themselves a behaviour consultant, but the exam that I took proved that I possess experience and knowledge in consulting, learning theory, species - specific knowledge, ethics, biology, practical skills, and behaviour analysis. I took a wonderful course with Family Paws Parent Education, providing me specialized training in assisting families with children and dogs.
Since 2013 I have done hundreds of in-home consultations, taught numerous puppy and manners classes, along with many of my most favourite, “Feisty Fido” classes for helping reactive and growly dogs. I also worked as a veterinary assistant for 5 years with an incredible team of professionals, and have been a guest speaker at local colleges.
In 2024 I enrolled in a 3 year post-graduate program in Clinical Animal Behaviour through Odisee University in Leuven, Belgium. This program is being completed remotely, and I have been enjoying the workshops and classes in animal welfare, behaviour, ethology, biology, clinical procedures, and more. I look forward to starting my final research project, and using my expanded knowledge towards helping felines as well!
